An Oregon State Hospital spokeswoman says a 48-year-old male patient at the psychiatric hospital was declared dead after staffers found him unresponsive Friday.
The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/m8kXab) that a sister of the patient identified him as Christopher Patrick Crawford. Lisa Feehely, of Churchton, Md., says her brother had been a patient at the Salem hospital for about two decades.
Hospital spokeswoman Rebeka Gipson-King says no cause of death has yet been determined. She says the death was reported to Oregon State Police for a standard investigation and the state medical examiner’s office will determine whether an autopsy will be performed.
The spokeswoman says the state Office of Adult Abuse Prevention and Investigations will conduct a separate investigation to determine if abuse or neglect occurred.
