John Bischof, M.D., joined Central City Concern’s Old Town Recovery Center as Medical Director on December 4th. Dr. Bischof brings to CCC a wealth of knowledge and experience in many settings, including community mental health, academia, and the public and private sectors. Dr. Bischof most recently worked at OptumHealth Behavioral Solutions for five years in various director roles.
The Old Town Recovery Center delivers outpatient care to approximately 650 severely mentally ill clients each year. The majority of clients experience both mental illness and addiction challenges, some are homeless, and all have been impacted by many years of poverty. Services include: case management, counseling, addiction treatment, co-occurring disorder treatment, access to housing and eviction prevention, medication prescribing and management and access to medical professionals.
Dr. Bishof had previously been a faculty member at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), where he was responsible for establishing a critical partnership between OHSU and the Oregon State Hospital in Salem. He also previously served as Medical Director at Cascadia Behavioral Health for five years.
He earned his M.D. from University of Missouri – Columbia and completed a Public Psychiatry fellowship at Columbia University in 2000.
